Hi everyone, recently i downloaded Unity 4.61 and it is stable version now, not beta which means that time has come for Squarebite to switch on new GUI system. It will take some time to change everything but in the end new inventory system will be awesome because new Unity GUI is totally awesome. So next version will have new Unity UI and it will be much easier to use with a lot of customization.

Will there be different inventory styles in first release or are you aiming first to have support for new unity GUI and after that release go for previously stated different inventory styles?

I plan to add all at once, updates for 4.6 UI which is already in good progress and some variations of inventories like you have already seen scrollable, then drag and drop style, backpack with slots etc.. Need more time for this, trying to develop it in my free time but it's xmass, new year hollidays and this month is full of it so i hope it will be developed soon, will be great and worth waiting. New UI is awesome, aldo have some issues with scrollbar and parenting but no worries, created some actions that do job for us so see ya soon folks Cheers!!!

so I have a quick question since you are redesigning the inventory system if I already starting using the old will I have to make a lot of fixes with the new one if so maybe I should wait for the new one to come out if so what will be the eta of the new one or an estimate.

It's difficult to say but i guess in few weeks, so if you are working on some game and you are using old system and you like it then continue with that progress and don't upgrade to new version until you finish your project, cause it uses totally different things then before. New version 4.0 will override almost everything and old version is old Main difference here is that old system use old GUI and my system used GUI textures for items, new system uses sprites and new UI so totally different things. Cheers!!!

Hi, no pictures yet about this, first i have to make it functional and then i can do some graphic. The thing is, i will discard many things i had in previous versions, sorting, layouts FSM, even events about detecting clicks cause now this event system is very powerfull and Mouse Howering is done automatically with animations, no need to calculate icon size and scale it that way. Lost of small things are done better and in more optimizing way and i will try some other algorithms where you will be able to do some cool stuff Stay tunned about new update, it is in progress and i can't wait to finish it. sounds like it going to be till feb, or march for the next update sound like a lot of work. so if I buy this and wanted more feature do you add them or could I contract to do the work.

Never contracted anyone for this, actually this is fist time someone asking about that Sales are not on level where i can hire someone to work on this, if i get more in time maybe we can work something out, but right now you can post on request section what you would like to see in this package or so. If i grow a little more with this and get more and more support then we can talk about some contribution Cheers!!!

Hi everyone, sorry for my delay! About the system, it is going well but right now i have some issues which i want to discuss with you guys and i need some help here: - Current inventory is made of slots and powerful new UI system allows me to add animations to slots, so basically when you mouse hower some item it can trigger animation state which is awesome, and above that there is powerful event system that can be used with Playmaker as well. There is UI matrix also that can define columns, rows, masks, even scroll options which is very useful when making inventory. So my question for you here is: What is best way to handle items? Left click will use/equip items, mouse hower will show item info, mouse exit will hide info and on drag you can pick item from inventory and place it to other slot or drop from inventory. I am asking you guys is this good enough approach for you so i can finish it? This way with slots i will evade all problems that are related to other opened GUI like shop, container etc... because now slots handles the events, not items, items will have only properties (health, value, damage...) - Other issue is related to inventory sorting and layouts. For example you can create 20 slots without scrolling and this way when all slots are filled you can't pick additional items, so this is static version of inventory (backpack), single slot for single item (later on will try to make something like in Diablo where you have different type of slots), so other version would be some dynamic where you create slots when items are picked. Problem here is how to sort them if there are slots and other problem in addition to this is how to display different type of items (weapons, armor, consumable...). So in order to do this i have to create other inventory type with list where you can use those algorithms for sorting and stuff. Tell me what do you think about all of this? Any suggestion, comment or feedback is appreciated Cheers!!!

I would say it would be best on click give three options equip/use, drop, destroy that way it carries a universal rpg element but can be modified for further/reduced options from the client without having to ask how to add/remove such feature also make sure if dragged out of inventory grid and dropped then it drops in the world (e.g. item sharing when multiplayer) Also I can not remember does this inventory have crafting? If so I recommend having both grid crafting + real time construction crafting if you really want to start boosting sales on this, hell if you had this + UFPS FULL support then I would pay $100 even if the old one is owned
